ICT Skills through E-learning

Information and Communication Technology Industry Skills Council (ICTISC) have had Establishment E-learning in National level as one of it’s prioritized tasks. University of Kelaniya had taken initiative with the collaboration of government to establish E-learning Center in Sri Lanka by the time ICT council was formed. As both parties have same interest of contributing in a national task, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between ICTISC and National E-Learning Resource Center (NELRC) of the University of Kelaniya, on 07th of April 2017, with the intention of delivering IT skills using e-learning.

This agreement was signed between Prof. D. M. Semasinghe, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Mr. M. B. M. Poornabandara, the President of ICTISC. The purpose of this agreement is to cooperate among the University and companies in business industry, to introduce an e-learning system for the students who have completed their high school Education and aren’t qualified for the university entrance and to develop their Information and communication technology skills.

National E-Learning Resource Center (NELRC) and ICTISC will create E-learning programs together and will introduce E-learning courses for the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) 2nd level to 5th level.

Mr. Daya Hettiarachchi the Director of Openarc System institute, Mr. S. Muralidaran the General Manager of Sampath Information Technology Solution, Dr. Viraj Pinto Jayewardena, CEO Matrix Institute of  Information Techonology, Mr. Sherry Wawwage, Manager of ICT Industry Skills Council represented ICTISC at the ceremony.

Prof. D. M. Semasinghe, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Kelaniya, Dr. Gamini Wijerathne, the Dean of Faculty of Computing and Technology, Dr. Namalee Suraweera, the Director of National E-Learning Resource Center of University of Kelaniya, Dr. Kaushalya Yatigammana and Senior Lecturer Darshana Somarathne, the Vice Presidents of National E-Learning Resource Center of University of Kelaniya, Dr. Prashanthi Narangoda, Head of the Visual Arts & Design and Performing Arts Unit, Lecturer Upul Jayantha Ranepura, Mr. Mangala Keerthi Pesqual, the Media Coordinator participated in this event.

ICT Industry Skills Council assists National E-learning with relevant industry input to deliver industry relevant contents. Moreover, council  acts as the quality assurance, coordinating and advisory body for e-learning for vocational education for the Industry Sector councils.
